Gamdias HEBE M1 Gaming Headset Review
Gamdias, is certainly not one of those companies which you will hear about frequently. However, they have a large amount of selections available with computer peripherals, and they are not new to the game either. After taking a close look at the Gamdias Hephaestus V2 Gaming headset previously, I am back again to take you around their slightly expensive option, the Gamdias HEBE M1 RGB Virtual 7:1 surround sound gaming headset. This is Ahnaf Malik Siam from frenzyweb360, and let’s get started!
The headphone sits in the upper middle rung of the Gamdias’s gaming headset line up, making it sort of the good value all purpose gaming headset. It offers 7:1 virtual surround sound via its USB interface at a great value. However, with intense competition from all around and other brands, how good is Gamdias against them? to know that, let’s dive in!

Design & Features:
The biggest selling point of the Gamdias HEBE M1 gaming headset is it’s good value and offering 7:1 virtual surround sound experience at a great price point, and probably also its RGB color cycling LED’s. It has a sound card inline on the USB cable which also has Vibration motor on or off key, microphone mute key, LED turn on or off key and the volume up-down keys as well. Though its certified for windows and pc’s only, but it also works with consoles and mac’s as well, considering that device supports audio over USB.
Out of the box,the headset will work as a plug and play unit, however, to get the best experience you will need to download and install Gamdias Hera software from their website and turn on the Virtual surround sound option from the settings. But, I do have my few cents about the software, but I will talk about it later. Now, its 7:1 surround sound experience is powered by the gamdias hera software and using large 50mm drivers. Combined with the 30mm vibration units, it really takes the game to another level.
The Gamdias HEBE M1 headset is made with an aluminum metal frame with plastic housing for the earphones. It also features fully padded ear cups,Headband made out of foam & a quite long braided cable with plastic protective cover outside. Gamdias only offers a single Color with the headset which is black, with silver accents on the metal structure. It features Hebe branding one the sides and a gamdias logo on the top foam-headband. The ear cups are soft and made out of memory foam padding and a thin layer of padding can also be find inside to prevent discomfort for large ears that might touch the interior walls of the ear cups. The big problem with this headset is that it doesn't offer any kind of adjustment and you can't fold it in any way. even though its fine for taller heads, that won't be the same with large heads especially in width. For them, it won't be comfortable. But for the most and including myself, this would be just fine and I certainly didn't faced any issues during testing period and it actually fitted me quite well. And, the design and quality seemed quite durable as well!
The cord which runs from the headset is 2 meters (over 6 feet) long which is totally enough and this arrangement gives the user plenty of cords when tethered to a computer but not to the point when it is overwhelming. It also has a built-in strap to organize and shape the cable according to your needs, which is really nice to see. The USB controller which is attached to the cord has a total of 5 buttons(volume up/down, Vibration on/off, Led & mic on/ off) and they all are quite tactile, and gives the user satisfaction to be able to change settings directly instead of taking the hassle of going to the software to do that.
The microphone in this headset is not removable, but it allows the user to tuck that inside the headphone and drag it back again when necessary. Not sure if this is a better choice than having an actual removable mic, but still the feature is better than nothing at least! Just I kinda don't like the way it sticks out in the end of the ear cup even after tucking it all the way in.
Inside the box, you will find just the headset, HEBE M1 and its glory, but nothing else, literally.
Not even a product manual or something like that. which is sort of weird since not everyday you will see that. However, to my taste it’s nothing that's concerning at all.
Performance:
After checking the hephaestus v2 out, I had a big expectation from this one for certain. And I am happy to announce, this didn't failed to impress me as well! I put the headset through its paces, checking it with Pc's, a ps4 console, heck, even with a phone using usb otg converter.
At first I fired the headphone up with my pc and after turning the 7:1 sound option on from the software, I immediately fired up a few games too check out its capabilities, playing fps games like Call of Duty modern warfare and wolfenstein the new colossus, I was pleasantly surprised how rich and textured the sound is considering its price. Gunshots, large explosion everything sounded very crisp and concussive. The audio felt very clear and accurate throughout the gameplays. Even with all the explosions, I could still hear other players clearly. However, I couldn't distinct all of the 7 channels, but it felt like I had a better sense of direction and distance about the gunshots and explosives. And, Adding that with the vibration, which Gamdias calles bass impact, turns low frequency tones into pulses which helps you really dive into the game and feel the game even better.
But the thing I noticed that during the gameplay is that the headset doesn't really block that much ambient noises and I still could hear a bit of the background.
After ending the gaming tests, I went to youtube and listened to a variety of songs for quite a long time. I found out that the sound stage is really wide and clean with really tight bass, while the mid and high tones were quite crisp.
To check the mic, I did a few audio recordings and they all turned out great, with clear and loud audio, picking up little to no background noise. I also did a few audio chats using the mic and were told that the audio came through loud and clear.
After these, I hooked the headset into my playstation 4 and played far cry 4 for a bit there. Since it doesn't have any official support, the headset ran in stereo mode. Even though it wasn't as good as the pc using 7:1 feature, still the audio came out clear and crisp with really lush sound throughout.
“So,in the sound department, this guy really surprised me for its money and I certainly think that it's definitely up with the bests in this price category.”
However, something that really bothered me while using this headset is their Gamdias Hera software which is necessary to control the 7:1 sound feature. First of all, the software was quite buggy and it took me 2 install-re installations to finally work with my headset and when it finally did, I was surprised to see that even though this headset has RGB, there is no controls for that in the software, meaning you are pretty much stuck with the default color cycle mode and you cant even turn that off from the software. Also adding more to that, though they have dedicated buttons on the in-line controller, they do not have any controls for the vibration on off as well. I know it is nice and better to have a in-line control, but if the button dies somehow, that will mean you will be pretty much stuck and won't be able to switch it on or off. So in this department, Gamdias really should improve a bit and, I will be really glad to see those options coming with a update in the software, in the near future!
Conclusion:
Despite Gamdias not being a well known company all around, their HEBE M1 Gaming Headset really surprised me in a lot of ways. For the price it costs, I think it really offers a great borderline between price with performance and It really surprised me with its rich and clear nature of the sound quality. Obviously I was expecting some kind of downsides, however, It really flied through a lot of areas and for its price, I think it's one of the best.
In a nutshell,
Pros-
*Really Good sound quality with good stage separation.
*The earcups are very comfy.Even with long term uses
*The RGB effect looks really attractive
*Great Microphone quality
*Great for Gaming
*The Build quality seems quite durable
*The Build quality seems quite durable
Cons-
*Gamdias Hera Software needs quite a bit of tweaking
*Doesn't have any adjustment option for the headbands
*Non-controllable RGB and its effects too.
Considering all these and the price,I will give this headset a solid 8 out of 10,Meaning Really Great!
