Overview of a robotic looking mouse:MadCatz RAT Pro X+

MadCatz is famous for making modular mice.most of their mice are very ergonomic and their outer parts can be modified.but some of their mice are notorious for having comparably low profiled sensors.but in that case, recently released RAT Pro X+ deserves a praise.it contains monstrous PMW3360 sensor.guys, this is Mashhud Hasan and once again from frenzyweb360.without further thinking, let's jump into it.

RAT Pro X+'s shape is very ergonomic.the chassis is finished with rubber and magnesium alloy coating.palm rest is quite elevated.it's palm rest, thumb rest, pinkie rest, scroll wheel, glide feet are swappable.the sensor is also modular.since people prefer scroll wheel grips according to their personal choices,so providing different types of grips is a good move by MadCatz.glide feet are vertically long.thumb rest is wide enough.it's cable is braided.left and right buttons can be clicked upto 50M times.

this mouse has RGB options.it's LED effects can be adjusted into five different modes:-rainbow,beat,cycling,breathing and random mode.it can be customized in many different ways.you can create profiles as much as you want.sensor's DPI,polling rate and lift off distance can also be tweaked.polling rate can be tweaked into four different modes(125/250/500/1000 Hz).

now let's talk about the most important part of this mouse,it's sensor.this mouse contains PMW3360.mice like Rival 700 and Cougar Revenger also contain the same sensor.it can run upto 12k DPI.this sensor has a really high tracking speed(250IPS) even though it has a higher DPI range than it's native DPI.an interesting fact about the sensor is it's 4-way SPI(Serial Peripheral Interface).before talking about it,we need to know about this SPI bus.it's a short range communication between master and slave.in the circuit of a mouse, this SPI works between MCU and sensor and between PC and MCU.sensor constantly snaps the surface and sends those information to MCU to calculate by image correlation system to determine the physical movement.then the MCU sends the information to PC for moving the pointer after converting the physical movement into cursor movement according to DPI and gravitational acceleration.this mouse's sensor works at 4-way SPI system which will allow the master and slave part of the mouse to receive and emit signals synchronously in four different ways(excluding GND and VCC connections) .this sensor also works at low voltage which is 1.8-2.1V.things to note that both of the PMW3310 and ADNS9800(Laser) have an operating voltage of 2.7-3.3V.the acceleration of this mouse's sensor is 50G.since this sensor can run upto high DPI,so the possibility is this rate of acceleration will cause pixel skipping.but since the sensor has a higher rate of IPS,so there's no chance of having deceleration while making snappy movements but accuracy can be affected while using it at higher DPI settings.

so,let's see it's pros and cons that are given below

pros:-

  • high profiled sensor(PMW3360)
  • almost all of the outer parts are modular
  • shape is ergonomic
  • higher polling rate(1kHz)
  • 4-way SPI communication
  • sensor works at lower voltage with higher tracking speed
  • DPI,polling rate,LOD,LED effects can be customized which made the software very handy
  • left and right buttons have long life duration (50M clicks)
  • braided cable
cons:-
  •  higher rate of acceleration(50G)
  • sensor's resolution is too high to prevent accuracy affected issues
  • no ways of tuning the weight

so overall this mouse seems very good in both performance-wise and comfort-wise.almost all of it's parts can be customized and can be preferred for all types of grippers.sensor is really good and 4-wire SPI will give you lag-free experience.thank you guys for reading and always stick with us for more
