Bangladesh Won Shakib's Comeback Match

Yesterday Bangladeshi fans have witnessed the most thrilling match gifted by our own national team. The first win against Sri lanka at Nidahas trophy was definitely impressive but in that match, there were very few performers that have crewed the team. Other than Mushfiq, Tamim and Liton, none of them performed well. Even the bowling department was absolutely unsuccessful. But yesterday was a special day. Bangladesh was under huge pressure in this tournament after losing to India by one-sided fashion. For this reason, Shakib was eagerly waiting for his comeback because like everyone else, he knows that his influence can change the whole team, he can create a momentum that can never be stopped. And hopefully that's what happened. Shakib came back to his team, he leaded from the front and for his spiritual move, everyone else in the team got inspired and all of them performed really well, especially Mahmudullah who stunned everyone in the stadium. This is Mashhud and today I'm going to discuss about yesterday's Bangladesh's win over Sri lanka.
First of all, let's talk about Shakib's decision of moving to his team. After he came back from Australia, the physio of BCB named Debashish Chaudhury suggested him to take rest for couple of weeks. Shakib decided to do what the physio said but that didn't last longer than 3 days. After resting for 3 days, he immediately decided to move to Sri lanka for leading his team at the knockout match against Sri lanka. That's the reason this match got labelled as Shakib's match. Everybody performed really well under Shakib's captaincy. This is what a champion captain's duty should always be. He inspired everyone in his team to give their best effort on the ground. There were so many performers but among them, Mahmudullah showed the most courage. He was a bit calm and silent at the early times of his innings but soon he turned his face into a killer mode. Last over was a stunner. When team needed 12 runs out of 4 balls, Udana gave a widish delivery which Mahmudullah chased and connected a clean cut to it & scored a four. Then he scored a double at the 4th ball and at the 5th delivery, he slashed the ball through the cover-drive and scored a huge six, ended the match with an emphatic fashion. Mahmudullah is without a doubt the best slog over batsman Bangladesh has ever produced. He finished many other big matches before and big stage panic never affects him at all. At the worldcup 2011, Bangladesh successfully chased England's 225 run where Mahmudullah finished the match scoring unbeaten 21 runs out of 42 balls. He also scored an unbeaten 102 run against Newzealand at 2017 Champions trophy and sealed Bangladesh to semi-final. At a certain stage, Bangladesh was 33-4. Then he built a record breaking 224 run partnership with Shakib where Shakib's contribution was 114. He is a certified finisher of Bangladesh. Yesterday Tamim also played very well. He utilized the powerplay overs by striking hard and playing lofted shots. Then soon he became calm when spinners came to attack and scored his 5th t20I fifty which is the 2nd most fifty by ani Bangladeshi in t20I. This is his 2nd fifty against any test-playing nations till now. Mushfiq played a handy innings, gave Tamim a good support by standing on the other side of the crease. He was outstanding in the whole tournament and yesterday he also played a solid knock. Overall Bangladesh's batting department didn't upset much except some silly mistakes by the young players.
Now i want to talk about Shakib's effect through-out the entire team. Before yesterday's match, Mahmudullah scored 32 runs out of 3 innings in this tournament and he admitted at the conference that Shakib's presence helped him empower his own game. And that's what happened yesterday, he scored a match winning knock of 43*. Both Tamim & Mushfiq were consistent in the whole tournament. Mustafiz conceded big amount of runs in his previous matches but yesterday he conceded only 4 runs in his first two overs and took 2 valuable wickets at the powerplay.Mehidy miraj was wicket-less in the entire tournament and look at his brilliant performance yesterday,he gave only 16 runs in 4 overs and took a wicket. Even Soumya Sarker bowled well at the death overs and took Kusal Perera's wicket. The reason why Shakib & Najmul Apu didn't bowl after powerplay was because of there were two left-arm sloggers and as usual, a left arm orthodox bowler's ball turns out of off-stump due to sliding position of the arm and it would be easy for Kusal & Thisara to cut those balls through the point. Thatswhy Shakib tried to take one of their wickets by using other bowlers.Shakib himself performed average. He's the no.1 allrounder in all three formats so he should've performed better. With the bowl, he was outstanding. Pitch was very flat and damped off, and yet he showed the braveness to bowl at the powerplay. And he bowled very consistently, his line- length and flight was very well-controlled and he conceded only 9 runs and took a wicket. He's really good at top order but still he batted at no.7 and didn't deliver good performance with the bat. He scored only 7 runs out of 9 balls. But he said in the interview that his target was to rotate the strike and give the strike to Mahmudullah. But when his arrival changed the whole team, it doesn't really matter whether he himself performed with the bat or not. After all his team won. Another positive side is his protest against unfair judging. Udana delivered two consecutive bouncers at the final over and the side-umpire gave it a no ball. Then the other field-umpire suggested him to withdraw the decision and give it a legal delivery which was definitely unfair judgement against us. Most importantly, this was not the first time umpires have mis-judged against Bangladesh. We all know about Rubel's no-ball issue to Rohit Sharma. In such an important match, you can't give wrong decisions like that. Another one was at the T20 worldcup where the scorecard has showed that if you gather all the runs that Indian bowlers have conceded, the total run would have been as same as the runs of Indian innings. All these days we have accepted these unfair judgements but someone had to protest and that's what Shakib did. Later at the interview he apologized for his action but his aggression motivated the team and helped us realize that we should stand against these unfair decisions. The conclusion is, in our perspective, Shakib's action was appreciating but in ICC's perspective, it's unprofessional. But he had been showing his emotions for his team for a long time. We can still not forget about Asiacup 2012's final match.

However, we've won this knockout match against Sri lankans. I think they've underestimated Bangladesh even after losing against them in their first appearance. Now Bangladesh will face India at the final match. Indians have defeated Bangladesh in all of their knockout matches they've faced but now is the time to avenge those losses. We are hoping for another big win. Best of luck for Bangladesh team.
