Steelseries Rival 700
hey guys,it's Mashhud Hasan again from frenzyweb360.i'm here to share my thoughts over another gaming mouse named Steelseries Rival 700.this mouse is created for hardcore FPS gamers even though it's quite heavy.so let's jump into it.
let's talk about it's body.the mouse is very ergonomic and for right handed only.there aren't any thumb rest but due to having such an excellent shape,it is compatible for all kind of grippers but mainly preferable for fingertip grippers.it has a pretty decent palm rest but it's shape is curved instead of round which may look uncomfortable at first glance but won't be a big issue.palm rest is swappable and can be replaced.the shape of the mouse is a bit smaller than Rival 300 but weight is too much for FPS gamers to handle(135g).
talking about it's buttons and cables,it has two buttons for left & right clicking,a front side button,a DPI changing button and a scroll wheel.all of the buttons are placed in pretty comfortable positions except the front side button which is pretty hard to reach comparing to others.Rival 700 comes with a long braided cable and a short rubberized cable.
this mouse is stacked with many cool features.believe it or not,it has an OLED display beside it's front side button.the graphics isn't good as expected but it's not for graphical reflection purpose actually.it is mainly used for computing the amount of ammo while shooting.but this display can also show many looping GIFs,written words and these sort of things.Steelseries has some of their default GIFs for this display but the most amazing fact is,you can make your own customized graphical stuffs for this display.but to be honest, viewing this OLED display while playing games is quite unnecessary.
it's an RGB mouse and has a color mode of 16.8 colors.it has a polling rate that can run upto 1kHz and can also be changed to 125Hz and 500Hz.
Rival 700 can let you know about your low ammo or many other incidents by vibrate.yes, this mouse vibrates.now the question that comes in the mind is,does this vibration affects the gaming.well,it vibrates vertically, not horizontally.so it won't be a big issue for targeting any object.and this vibration can help you remind about your in-game specific incidents according to your programs to the mouse.
now let's talk about it's most important part, the sensor.Rival 700 contains PMW3360,the smaller brother of PMW3366.both of the sensors are pretty same.the sensor can run upto 16k DPI at 50G of acceleration.according to RJN's review of this mouse, the sensor of it is very solid tracker.even after snapping it fast horizontally,it doesn't spin out due to having a higher rate of tracking speed(300IPS). the sensor doesn't accelerate much and it's pretty accurate and tracks pixel from pixel very precisely.it has a lower rate of LOD and the sensor is also swappable and due to it's purpose, this mouse comes with another sensor,it's PixArt 9800 laser sensor that runs upto 8200DPI,150IPS of tracking speed and a lower rate of acceleration even though the possibility is,it's acceleration will tamper big time since it's a laser sensor and laser sensors are generally notorious for being inaccurate trackers.so,there's no reason for switching from PMW3360 to 9800.
so let's highlight this mouse and it's pros and cons that are given below
pros:-

so let's highlight this mouse and it's pros and cons that are given below
pros:-
- high profiled optical sensor(PMW3360)
- higher rate of polling rate
- shape and size is compatible for all kinds of grippers
- modular sensors and palm rests
- buttons are placed in comfortable position
- having an OLED display for gaming is pretty irrelevant
- this mouse already contains PMW3360,so giving PixArt 9800 laser sensor with it is also irrelevant
- even though the way of vibration is horizontal, but still it can affect sniping and all types of targeting assignments in gaming
