Intel Pentium G4560 Review

Hello Folks,It's Ahnaf Malik Siam from FrenzyWeb360,Hopefully you all are doing well, before starting,I just want to mention, This blog is totally for an average Bangladeshi Gamer,so your opinion may vary based on your preference, So be generous!

Anyways,Most of you guys are already familiar with so called the budget beast,Intels Offering From their 7th gen Linup of pentium processors, The Pentium G4560.

from the release date I wanted to own this beast and check out how accurate the claims are,so recently I bought one and played with it for quite a while. So In this post, I will discuss Some things and some personal opinions about it.

I know there is already a handful of reviews for this, so I am Not calling it a review, instead you can say this is more of a personal experience and opinion.

First,Lets talk the basic of this processor. Its going to be quite long,so if you think knowing the details isn't necessary, you can skip this part :v

This Cpu is based on Kaby-Lake Architecture from intel. However, the thing that makes it standout from the previous gen Pentiums like the G4400,Beside the two cores, this thing also offers Intels Latest Hyperthreading Technology, Making it a 2C/4T chip unlike 2C/2T chip like before. However this is not the first pentium chip to feature hyperthreading,As previously Intel Had their Pentium 4 Lineup of proceasors which also featured this hyper threading technology.however those doesn't exist anymore, uses older architecture, and doesn't feature the advancements on latest hyperthreading technology. So its fair enough to say this thing is a huge bump in the pentium Lineup.
However,G4560 isn't the only Pentium in intels 7th gen lineup to offer the new hyper threading,in fact there is two more pentiums there, but G4560 is the cheapest of them.If you are wondering if spending more to get those other two pentiums is worth it,actually, apart from a bit (100-300mhz clock speed difference), its not worth it at all.
Due to almost similiar performance.

Infact,This little beast even rivals what's supposed to be its big brother,The core i3.This pentium chip is surprisingly at its worst only 10FPS Slower than the latest i3 7100(which costs almost double the price of g4560).And on par with its previous gen big brother, the i3 6100.Making it the killer of i3 series,(you can see the effect of that already by this time)
Though the i3's got some more instruction sets and Better Igpus, But that wont matter for gamers at all and if you buy this processor instead of an i3,you will save almost half the money that you can easily spend to get a better/a 2nd hand gpu to get better gaming performance overall.

So, I think that's enough for the basic part.If you want to know more details then you can visit -

Now,lets talk about performance.First, The setup I used for these benchmarks-

*Intel Pentium G4560 Processor*
Biostar B250 Racing GT3 Motherboard(Upgraded to latest bios)
GeIL Super Luce 8GB DDR4 2400Mhz+Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR4 2400Mhz.
Toshiba 1TB Hard Disk Drive(boot drive)
Zotac Amp Extreme GTX 1070
Testing resolution -1080P

First,I tried Rise of the tomb raider.
At Full Maxed out settings and 2x MSAA with purehair on,
at Geo Thermal Vallly,the g4560 averaged only 54.4FPS with a Minimum of 2 & Maximum of 95.
So,the experience was quite choppy,Hw monitor reveals the cpu usage stayed at 100% all the time while the gpu hoverd around 65-80%,indicating a huge bottolneck.
however ROTR is a really CPU intensive titels as it requires quite a lot of CPU power to load all its textures and details,so,to fix this issue, you can pair the gpu with a lower end gpu and play it in lowered settings to get an playable smooth experience.

The 2nd game I tried was the Tom Clancy's ghost recon wildlands. At Very High Preset and Temporal AA.
Surprisingly the Experience was quite good.It averaged 68 Fps with minimum of 31 and maximum of 76.92Fps.Though the minimum was 31,but it was just a random stutter during the gameplay, but it hovered all the time around 60Fps, So I've to say that was quite a good experience. In theory,You can still up the settings to ultra,I've also tried that,But most of the time it hovered around 38-37 Fps and the lowest I've seen was 30.But, I would prefer The very high settings as its visual quality isn't that far off from the ultra settings and Gives you a much better smooth gameplay experience.

The third Game I tried was the Gta V,at Very High settings,The G4560+1070 Combo Achieved An average of 103FPS,Minimum of 55 and Maximum of 198 FPS,Though in numbers that is some serious stuff, but in reality, actually the fps changes constantly so it creats kinda stuttering experience. but,you can turn on v-sync to lock down the framerate to solve this issue.

Due to Some Time Limit I couldn't Do anymore benchmarks at this moment,But In Sha Allah I will give it a follow up with performance at other demanding Games as well in the near future.

So,Afterplaying Some Roasting Games 😛 ,You may wanna know how hot does the Mighty G4560 Gets.
To test it,I've used two different methods. After Recording the Idle Temperature, at first I've played Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon wildlands for 1hour and then recorded the highest temperature, and also Used AIDA 64 Extreme to stress the CPU for 1Hour and recorded the pic temparetures.

*please keep it in mind that I've used the stock cooler that Came with the processor, and replaced the stock Thermal paste with Cooler Master E2 IC Essential Thermal Compound, and the test was on a open air testbench ao,your tempareture can vary around 3-5 degrees depending on the situation. *

The Idling Tempareture of the chip is around 40*C
However, after 1hr of The gameplay, the chip hit a maximum of 62*c on the CPU Package.
And in aida 64 stress test,The chip reached a maximum of 67*C
So tempareture wise you are completely Okay with Stock cooler and you don't need to spend any extra to get an aftermarket cooler.

So,getting the number part away,Lets talk some more about the pro.

First of all,You may ask, Which Graphics Card You Can pair it with.

In my opinion,The highest you should go with this processor is Someting like a GTX 1060 3GB or something like that,If you put too much powerful GPU,It kinda struggles to keep up(Like those stutterings) and bottolnecks quite a lot.In my opinion the perfect Gpu with this chip will be A 1050Ti,As its a sweet match with G4560 and wont bottolneck.

**Should you buy this or the AMD's new athlon X4 950?

X4 950,though using AM4 socket, but its a chip based on older Excavator Architecture, Not the new Zen ones,So performance is just like old ones, really slow and bad in single core and overall performance, despite being a 4core chip. You may point out the increased price of the g4560 in Us markets,But at. till this moment there is no effect of that In Bangladeshi Market and hopefully wont untill the Realse of 8th gen and its new pentiums.
if you want to know how this Beast stacks up with AMD's X4 950 and even Ryzen 3 1200,You Can watch this video-click here

**Is upgrading from something like old 2nd/3rd gen i3's/pentiums to a G4560 worth it?

Definitely Yes.You will get a huge bump in performance and you don't have to spend that much extra, from the money you will get after selling the old goods to switch to a G4560 system. So if you are thinking about it,you should switch to g4560.

So,at the end of the day,the pentium G4560,is undoubtedly the best budget processor at this moment,Rivaling and destroying the market of its own big brother,The core I3 series.Priced at only 4,800 BDT in Bangladesh,This chip Is a superb value offering the performance of a Core i3 in a much cheaper way,And at this moment destroying the competition. This CPU Is an ountstanding Option for Folks in Budget, and being the fact that it offers that much of a good performance in such cheap price, gives the buyer opportunity to spend extra Money In Other components for getting better products. This Processor is worth every peni and this is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best budget and worthy processors ever produced.

If you want to buy this processor new,Its available in both startech Bangladesh and Binary Logic For 4,800BDT.
Pair it with A H110 Mobo & some good budget components ,and you are ready to rock!
